  • Layup: a proper multi-ply carbon laminate (often with a fiberglass or aramid layer) tuned for the right stiffness — not a single brittle sheet that cracks.

  • Edge finish: rounded, sealed edges so the plate doesn't fray or cut the foot/sock.
